Brain Health
Brain Health Restoration
The health of your brain is extremely important for living a life full of energy, vitality, and graceful aging.
Many factors can negatively affect brain function, including a history of concussion or traumatic brain injury, environmental toxin exposure, genetic predisposition to neurodegeneration, a poor diet, chronic stress, nutrient deficiencies and many more.
Symptoms Of Poor Brain Health
- Brain fog
- Forgetfulness
- Low motivation
- Fatigue
- Low mood
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Inability to focus
Conditions We Treat At Our San Diego Clinic:
- Concussion
- TBI (traumatic brain injury)
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Early Alzheimer’s and Dementia
- MCI (mild cognitive impairment)
Our doctors are highly trained at helping people with brain health conditions and we assure you that you can feel better.
Brain Health Testing We Perform
- Inflammatory markers i.e. CRP, homocysteine, ESR
- Genetic Testing i.e. ApoE, MTHFR

- Sleep study to check for sleep apnea
Naturopathic Treatments For Brain Health
Neurofeedback For Brain Health
Neurofeedback can be a life changing treatment for many suffering from brain related conditions.
With many brain-related conditions, brain wave patterns become out of balance and can be difficult to change. These changes can be identified by doing a qEEG brain map.
By training the brain with a series of neurofeedback sessions unique to your brain, new and more coherent brain wave patterns are established.
Best results are seen when patients are working with one of our naturopathic doctors to address the other underlying causes for their condition.

Naturopathic Perspective For Brain Health
- Optimizing the diet. Diet plays an enormous role in our overall health, but especially the health of our brain. Our western diet is high in inflammatory foods like omega 6 oils, sugars, and processed foods which can contribute to worsening brain health. Consuming an anti-inflammatory diet can dramatically improve brain health.
- Correcting Nutrient Deficiencies. Many people are deficient in key nutrients like B vitamins, magnesium, and zinc which directly impact the health of the brain.
- Optimizing SCFA production by the microbiome as this plays a key role in neuroinflammatory processes by reducing microglial activation.
- Decreasing inflammation plays a large role in slowing the aging process, especially of the brain (sleep apnea, nutrient deficiency, food reactions). Many brain related conditions are associated with higher levels of inflammation.
- Lifestyle interventions like mindfulness, meditation, or yoga. These interventions act to decrease chronic stress and elevated cortisol. Chronically elevated cortisol has a negative impact on the hippocampus, an area of the brain responsible for long term memory.
- NAD+ IV therapy. NAD+ is a natural substance found in the body and is a key factor in the production of cellular energy (ATP) in the body and in the brain. As we age, NAD+ levels decline, but a poor diet and chronic stress can deplete NAD+ even more rapidly. By infusing NAD+ into the body, we often see rapid improvements in brain health and overall wellbeing – click here to learn more about NAD+ IV therapy.
- Glutathione IV therapy. Glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant. With chronic stress, environmental toxicity, or a poor diet, glutathione levels are repleted which accelerates the aging process and brain related issues. Glutathione IV can be extremely beneficial for conditions such as TBI, concussion, and Parkinson’s disease.
Brain Gut Connection
There is a well established connection between the brain and the gut, called the brain-gut (or gut-brain) axis.
Disruption in the gut can lead to disrupted function in the brain and vice versa.
We can’t overstate the symbiotic relationship between the brain and the gut and how effective treatment always addresses the health of both.
In fact, in animal studies, rats given a concussion almost immediately suffered intestinal permeability (commonly referred to as “leaky gut”).
There is also a well established link between the health of microbiota and brain neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, microglial activation, and the regulation of stress induces changes in brain function and behavior.
While many people just chalk up a worsening memory or brain fog to “normal aging”, we assure you that this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Aging itself is inevitable, but we believe that by applying naturopathic principles into your life it’s possible to retain an optimally functioning brain into old age.
NAD+ For Brain Health
NAD+ IVs are a fantastic option for many people suffering from brain related conditions.
Oftentimes poor mitochondrial health is seen in these conditions. NAD+ is an option that typically provides relief almost immediately for patients.
As we age, our NAD+ levels decline and this results in declining overall health, especially of the brain. By repleting this powerful nutrient, we are giving our body the energy it needs at the cellular level.

Reducing Inflammation For A Healthier Brain
So why is inflammation such a big problem?
Well, there are many common factors that contribute to inflammation in the brain, but several of the main culprits are our standard american diet, lack of sleep, chronic stress, and impact to the head through contact sports.
The brain has cells called microglia that are turned on in order to protect our brain whenever there is damage to our neurons – however, these microglia are difficult to turn off after they are activated. This overzealous response by the microglia itself is damaging to the brain and if it’s not stopped, can go on for years.
