NAD+ IV Drip Therapy in San Diego

NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a vitamin-like substance that is present in every living cell. It is the cofactor that allows the cellular machinery, also known as the mitochondria, to make energy by transforming the energy from our food into energy that our cells can use to carry out their functions.

What is NAD+

When we are born our cells are filled with high amounts of NAD+. However, as we age and with poor nutrition and lifestyle choices, the levels of NAD+ in our cells decline drastically and this results in a decline in cellular health.

NAD+ levels decline with age and factors such as poor lifestyle choices, poor diet, stress, alcohol, drugs, and toxin exposure. Additionally, chronic inflammation as a result of an imbalanced immune system Can further deplete NA+ levels in the body.

Best Way To Get NAD+?

The process of getting an NAD+ infusion is like any other IV but slightly longer. You come in, get connected to the IV by one of our doctors, and relax in our IV lounge while the NAD+ and its cofactors drip. The process can take 1-3 hours depending on the dose of NAD+ being administered.

For optimal results, a series of 10 NAD+ IV infusions is recommended. They can be done over the course of 2 weeks (5 IVs each week) or weekly for 10 weeks.

NAD+ San Diego Treatment

There are many NAD+ supplements available on the market but oral consumption is not very bioavailable. The best way to replete nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide levels to have therapeutics effects is as an IV infusion. NAD IV infusion bypasses your digestive tract which nourishes your cells instantly – this allows you to bypass your body’s digestive processes and get the nutrients directly to the cells that need them

  • Anti-aging

NAD+ Is Involved With Many Different Functions In The Body Including:

  • Cellular repair & health
  • Brain support
  • Production of energy
  • Longevity
    • Neurotransmitter balance
  • Detoxification
  • Some studies even show that NAD+ can turn off the genes that accelerate aging!

NAD+ And Anti-aging

Hallmarks of aging are associated with cellular depletions of NAD. As we age, our ability to produce and recycle NAD+ declines.

NAD+ is a cofactor required to activate an enzyme called PARP-1, which is required for DNA repair. Studies show that cells from centenarians (people at least 100 years old) have significantly higher PARP-1 activity levels than cells from younger individuals (70 years old). PARP-1 activity has also been correlated with maximum lifespan in mammals. The higher the PARP-1 activity, the longer the lifespan.

Additionally, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is required to activate a class of enzymes that are known to influence aging and longevity known as Sirtuins (Sirt1 through Sirt7).

Mitochondria are thought of as the powerhouses of the cells because they generate energy. Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark of the aging process and may lead to reduced energy production and progression of age-related diseases. NAD+ has been shown to be important in regulating healthy mitochondrial function in the body.

Does IV Therapy Hurt?

IV therapy should not be a painful process. Patients may experience a small pinch as the needle pierces the skin, but the rest of the process if administered properly should be painless.

NAD+ and Weight Loss:

NAD+ is a powerful coenzyme essential for energy metabolism. Reduced NAD+ levels can lead to decreased energy metabolism which can make it significantly more difficult to lose weight.

NAD+ IV For Addiction And Mood

NAD+ can effectively be used to help patients break free of addictions as studies have shown that IV NAD+ can help support patients in detoxifying from alcohol, food, and drugs.neurotransmitters in the brain that are directly related to mood.

NAD+ can effectively be used to help patients break free of addictions as studies have shown that IV NAD+ can help support patients in detoxifying from alcohol, food, and drugs.

Clinically we have observed significant reductions in withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

NAD+ can help restore normal brain biochemistry, a major requirement for breaking any addiction, reducing or eliminating cravings, and stabilizing mood. NAD+ is essential for maintaining proper levels of neurotransmitters in the brain that are directly related to mood.

NAD+ IV Therapy Improves Physical Performance

NAD+ is necessary for over 500 biochemical pathways in the body and is essential for ATP, or energy production. With higher levels of NAD+, the body is capable of producing more energy, thus increasing physical performance. Additionally, physical performance is highly dependent on the health and function of our mitochondria, and as we learned earlier, NAD+ has a large impact on the health of our mitochondria. After a bout of physical exercise, we also need nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide for cellular repair, so not only does NAD+ improve physical performance, it also improves and accelerates our recovery.

How Is NAD+ Made?

NAD can be synthesized by the amino acids tryptophan, nicotinamide, nicotinic acid, and nicotinamide riboside.

Can You Get NAD+ From Food?

Although NAD+ cannot be obtained from the diet, nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a precursor of NAD+ can be found in a variety of foods, such as broccoli, avocado, and beef.

What Are Side Effects of NAD?

Some people experience some nausea, abdominal discomfort, or lightheadedness with the NAD+ IV but our doctors will monitor and adjust the drip rate of the infusion to ensure maximal patient comfort.

NAD+ and the Brain

The brain is one of the most impacted organs by NAD+ deficiency.

In fact, the heart and the brain are the two most mitochondrial dense organs, which means that NAD+ plays a significant role in the function of these two vital organs.

NAD+ helps balance the brain’s neurotransmitters, improve withdrawal symptoms from addictive substances, support cognition, improve mood and support recovery from post-traumatic injuries (TBIs), as well as concussions.

How Are Results Supported By Research?

A recent pilot study in humans investigated changes in plasma and urinary levels of NAD+ and its metabolites during a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide infusion. The study involved 11 healthy men between 30 and 55 years of age who received 750 milligrams of NAD+ over a six-hour period administered via intravenous infusion. After the first two hours of infusion, no changes in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide or its metabolites were detected. However, after two more hours of infusion, NAD+ and its metabolites were detected at approximately 400 percent above baseline levels, suggesting that intravenous administration of NAD is effective at restoring cellular NAD levels¹.
